The Old School in Tahkovuori—Onnela and Unelma—can be rented together for a large family, for a vacation with multiple families, family reunions, birthdays, graduation parties, groups of friends, hobby groups, or other large gatherings.
You’ll have access to two separate apartments combined within the same historic school building, with direct access between them from inside: a total of approximately 350 m², 8 bedrooms, a loft, large shared spaces, two kitchens, and plenty of room even for those traveling with children.
The atmosphere of an old village school, a private yard, a traditional outdoor sauna, and the surrounding nature make this property a unique alternative to typical cottage accommodations.
The slopes, restaurants, and other amenities in Tahko are accessible by car.

Things to Do at School
In summer, the lake is the heart of the cottage: the beach and the shore are about 30 m away. Nature and outdoor trails directly from the yard.
Wanha Koulu is particularly well-suited for groups who want to spend time together at their lodging as well.

In the winter, there’s plenty of space in the yard for snow forts, snowball fights, and outdoor games.
A village trail of about 9 km for classic-style skiing starts right from the schoolyard, weather permitting. Snowmobile trails are easily accessible.
The surrounding area features esker and ravine landscapes shaped by the Ice Age. Activities available in the area include skiing, hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing, berry picking, and mushroom hunting.
There are also some old playground and climbing structures from the school’s earlier days in the yard. They do not meet current EU safety standards for playgrounds, so use them at your own risk.
Bed linen and bedding:
Blankets, pillows, sheets and towels are included.
Visitor Access
Onnela and Unelma are exclusively at your group’s disposal for the duration of your stay.
There are also other accommodations in the same school building, so other guests may be staying there at the same time.
Check-in is easy to do on your own.
Location
Wanha Koulu Tahkovuori is located in a peaceful setting west of Tahko, in the heart of the Savonian countryside and among the esker landscapes shaped by the Ice Age.
You’ll need to drive to access the services at the Tahko Ski Resort. Since the resort is not located in downtown Tahko, a personal car or rental car is recommended.
The idea behind this lodging is peace and quiet, plenty of space, and the chance to spend time together in an old Finnish village school.
