An experiential environment to holiday together – with all the comforts! The Family Apartment is a unique, 4-bedroom spacious, modern and stylish 150m2 apartment for 8+3 people, completely renovated in an old school building.

If you are planning a holiday e.g. together with your family, friends or relatives, this place is perfect for it.

There is a cosy porch and a lot (at extra cost) and a yoga room / dojo downstairs. Located near the Tahko ski resort on the west side of the ski slopes. Peaceful, natural location in beautiful ridge landscapes in the middle of the forest. Great for families and groups.

Living room / kitchen

The family apartment’s kitchen-living room is equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils, a refrigerator, a freezer, an induction stove, a convection oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a high chair. There is enough tableware for 15 people. The cozy dining area can accommodate even a larger group dining together.

Lounge

The spacious sofa is a comfortable place to sit and relax at the end of a busy day on vacation. You’ll have access to free Wi-Fi, a large flat-screen TV (Smart TV), and a variety of board games. You can also light the wood-burning fireplace to add warmth and ambiance to the living area. The family apartment has 2 separate restrooms.

Bedrooms

There are 5 separate bedrooms in The Family Apartment, each with 2 beds – one with bunk beds, as well as a baby bed and, if needed, a travel bed for a baby/toddler. Sheets and towels are included in the price.

A loft loved by children

There’s also a glass-walled loft with 3 mattresses. Especially children and teenagers love this private hideout place! The raft is climbed up the poles – not for very young children.

Sauna and shower facilities

The family apartment includes a sauna and a shower. You can cool off on the cozy porch or outside in your own yard.

The utility room includes a washing machine and a drying closet where you can also quickly dry your wet skiing clothes.

Relax in a hot tub under the sky

You have access to a hot tub, and the cost for a single heating session is 150€. The price includes water, firewood, heating, and cleaning the tub.

Activity room / mini-gym

As a special feature, the Old School has a popular activity room/mini gym with tatami floor in the basement. The hall is open to school residents daily from 6am to 8pm.

Yard area

The family apartment includes its own yard area with barbeque equipment.

The family apartment has an air-source heat pump, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of parking spaces, including 2 spaces for space heaters. (Not suitable for charging electric cars.)

Pets allowed; pet fee is 30€.

Bed Linen

Sheets and towels are included in the price.

This space can be combined with the Onnela Iso family apartment, bringing the total number of guests to as many as 28.

Wanha koulu is great for large families or families with several children. Fantastically quiet accommodation with plenty of activities for children!

Awesome accommodation in a great location in the heart of nature, highly recommend it! Our group of 9 people fit perfectly in the Family Apartment! Everything was perfect in this place 🙂

School yard and the surroundings

Wanha koulu is located on the Western side of the Tahkovuori ski resort, in a quiet location in the middle of beautiful landscapes shaped by the ice age. There’s a 6 km distance to Tahko’s Western slopes and 14 km to the center of Tahko.

The environment of Wanha koulu offers lots of opportunities for leisure activities, both for adults and children.

In the summer, you’ll have access to a soccer field and a spacious campfire area, among other things. There’s a 4-kilometer sandy trail for mountain biking. The yard has a sandbox, swings, and plenty of space for kids to play. The surroundings also offer wonderful camping grounds with glacial ridges and valleys.

Tahko's activities and services

The nearby Tahkovuori ski resort offers a great environment for skiers in winter.

Easy to go skiing from the Western Slopes

It is really convenient to go to the slopes from Tahko’s Western side, as there is always less traffic and you can park your car right next to the ski lifts. You can also buy the tickets here. The road to the famous Pehkubar and Panorama bar goes directly from the Western side.

In the summer season, on the west side of Tahko you can find wonderful camping destinations, e.g. Mäkiautio gorge and its scenic ledge, Rahasmäki ledge, and Huutavanholma.

In the summer, Tahko offers a wonderful environment for golfers, as well as for fishing, off-road electric cycling, shooting, paintball, kayaking, picking berries and mushrooms, and a spa. Also around the school, there are wonderful hiking grounds with glacial ridges and valleys.
